Who Is Tia Upshaw?

Tia Upshaw is a mother of 3,  a respected leader in entrepreneurship, community development, and women’s economic empowerment. As the Founder and CEO of Blk Women in Excellence, she creates real pathways for women to start, grow, and sustain businesses with confidence and support.

Tia is known for her honest teaching style, practical strategies, and her ability to turn complex challenges into clear next steps. She’s a self published author, media personality, and mother of three who built her career from the ground up. Her bi-weekly segment, “Tuesdays with Tia” on CTV Morning Live, highlights diverse entrepreneurs and brings visibility to small business stories across Nova Scotia.

Her impact has been recognized through major awards, including the Nova Scotia Human Rights Rocky Jones Award, Top 100 Black Women in Canada, Dave Richardson Entrepreneurship Award, and multiple nominations for RBC Woman of Influence and Business Leader of the Year.
